A tool to make backups of Gmail, that you can even restore.
Gmail is one of the most used email programs, making a tool like Gmail Backup very important. It makes backups that you can restore of all the information stored in Gmail. For Gmail Backup to work you need to previously activate the IMAP access, that can be done in the Gmail configurations in the POP/IMAP tab.
The messages are stored in the local directory, whose name follows this formula: YYYYMMDD-hhmmss-nn.eml (in other words, year, month, day and then hours, minutes and seconds). The assignation of the tag is stored in the labels.txt file. Gmail Backup saves all the messages in EML format so you can have them when you want, attached files included. It has the added advantage that you can access your email accounts, restore and upload messages to other accounts off-line. Nowadays it`s a necessary tool.
